Fair Use Policy
WHAT "ALMOST UNLIMITED" MEANS
Several LOTSOG Learning subscription plans offer features described as "Almost Unlimited." This document explains what that means, what it doesn't mean, and how we apply it fairly.
THE HONEST EXPLANATION
We use the phrase "Almost Unlimited" instead of "Unlimited" because we believe in honest communication with our users.
Every digital system has finite capacity. When we say "Almost Unlimited," we mean that we have set a very high internal system limit — one that no individual learner, classroom teacher, or educational institution would reach through normal, good-faith educational use. We have deliberately set these limits far beyond what any real educational use case would require.
The specific numerical limits are not published, because they are subject to change as our infrastructure evolves and because publishing them would invite gaming rather than prevent it.
WHAT IS COVERED
"Almost Unlimited" applies to features such as:
- Number of courses or books generated
- Number of topic briefings generated per month
- Number of topic nodes accessible
- AI voice tutor session minutes (where specified)
- Number of classes managed (for educator plans)
WHAT NORMAL USE LOOKS LIKE
We expect the vast majority of our users — learners, teachers, and institutions alike — to never approach our system limits. Normal use looks like:
- A learner studying one to several subjects, generating courses and briefings over weeks and months
- A teacher building a course library, assigning curriculum to one to several classes each semester
- An institution covering a faculty of teachers who each behave as described above
These use patterns are what our pricing and system design is built around.
WHAT CONSTITUTES ABUSE
We reserve the right to review accounts and, where necessary, restrict or suspend access when usage patterns suggest:
(a) Automated generation at scale: Using scripts, bots, or automated tools to generate large volumes of content in a short period, beyond what any human learner or teacher would consume.
(b) Commercial resale: Using the Service to generate educational content that is sold or licensed to third parties without our consent.
(c) Bulk AI inference: Using the Service as a low-cost AI content generation pipeline for purposes unrelated to personal learning or classroom instruction.
(d) Account sharing: Multiple people sharing a single account to collectively consume more than an individual plan is intended to support.
(e) Systematic data extraction: Systematically copying, scraping, or extracting content from the platform for external use.
HOW WE RESPOND
Our response to suspected abuse is proportionate:
- First: We review. Unusual usage patterns trigger internal review before any action is taken. We do not act on automated flags alone.
- Second: We contact you. In most cases, we will email you to understand the usage pattern before taking any action. We recognize that legitimate power users exist and we want to understand before we act.
- Third: Proportionate action. If abuse is confirmed, we may: (a) request you upgrade to a more appropriate plan; (b) temporarily rate-limit specific features; (c) suspend the account pending discussion; (d) terminate the account in cases of clear, intentional abuse.
- Appeal: You may appeal any action taken under this policy by emailing support@msi3.com within 30 days.
GEOGRAPHIC PRICING AND FAIR USE
Using a VPN or other means to access a lower geographic pricing tier is a violation of our Terms of Service and this Fair Use Policy. See Section 4.4 of our Terms of Service for consequences.
INSTITUTIONAL FAIR USE
Institutions subscribing to Academy, Athenæum, or Endowment plans agree that the plan's teacher seat and student limits represent the intended scale of use. Circumventing seat limits through account sharing or other means is a violation of this policy.
THIS POLICY IS LIVING
We will update this policy as our understanding of normal and abusive use patterns evolves. Material changes will be communicated with 30 days' notice per our Terms of Service.
